The first event was called “Country Girls That Rock” We want to send a special “Thank You!” to Caleb Brock & Vision Music for putting such a great show together. The artist were fantastic. If you missed these girls you missed some awesome talent. The Kohl’s Care Team came to help with the evening’s festivities. When they come to help Kohl’s donates $500.00 to Cure For Our Friends! Thank You Kohl’s team. MS Andie Lynn was our MC for the night! WOW was she helping motivate the crowd for the cause. We hope she will MC all our future events. She shared her connection with the cause mid evening. I know she will be with us raising awareness and funds if at all possible. Of cause we can not go with out mentioning Mr Randy Fuller former Pittsburgh Steeler player. He is never but a phone call away to help raise awareness and funds for the cause. Tonight Miss Eden and Ellington joined him for the show. Thanks you all for coming by. We want to thank everyone that helped in anyway to make this show fantastic!!! Together we will make CF stand for Cure Found!!
Cure For Our Friends was joined by LaRoo & Candles For A Cure. We got to meet several new family’s. Keely & I are loving our Cloey’s Cure pink tee’s. Al and Chris can’t wait to help Joel & Holly get translation from the “Ole Country” for Dublin’s Dash’s tee’s for next year. We are looking forward to having the helping hand’s for next years golf tournament. We are already getting excited. Date set for April 18 ,2015.
AL and I visited the Nashville Walk to check out all the activities. So many fun things going on at the park. We walked with LaRoo and meet so many new friends. I finally got to meet Miss Madie. The dancing was quite the highlight of the early afternoon activities. The “vest’ folks were there to demo on the Bear so all us non-cfer’s could truly understand the treatments. The best thing for me was to see NEWS CHANNEL 5 there covering the days activities. I have been involved with raising funds for CF for many, many years and getting the media coverage has not been obtainable. I am so glad to see that we have finally crossed that bridge!!! What a sunny fun afternoon at the park.
Uncle Jerry and Aunt Kathy really pulled this event together when they went in to sell raffle tickets for the Charlie Daniels fiddle. They meet Deanna the store manager who had lost a family member to CF years ago. She talked to store owner Bruce Pyle about doing more than just buying raffle tickets… A Steeler’s basket to be raffled and donation per video was the plan. Then Jerry went back to talk details only to find that he and Bruce had grown up in the same small town in PA. Jerry told Bruce he & Kathy would be traveling to TN to help work my CF golf outing. Jerry mentioned that I had retired NFL players that helped raise funds and came out to play golf with us. Guess who’s name came up…yes it was Randy Fuller, Jerry told Bruce he had met him last year at the event. Bruce ask Jerry if Randy would be willing to come to Ormond Beach for a store event. He welcomed the opportunity to get to ‘Steeler” country!! Thank you Bruce & Deana for having Randy and myself to help raise funds and awareness for CF. A big THANK YOU to all the Steeler fans that came out to show your support. Also, thank you to Bruce McNorton that came to be with us and show us those ever so famous rings!! We hope to see everyone again soon…

Thank you everyone for participating in our 2014 Cure For Our Friends Event! Without your support, we would not be able to reach our goal of “Cure Found”.
We are very pleased and grateful that we can now claim that we have donations coming in from the OLD country. A donation has been received from some of our leprechaun friends in Eire, making a very nice contribution.
Always a dedicated volunteer with our organization, we are saddened by the passing of Margaret Mackie. Margaret Mary Mackie (nee Rowan) of Hermitage passed away on March 27, 2014. Margaret was born October 19, 1940, in Killybegs, County Donegal, Ireland. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 22 years, Peter Mackie; parents, Denis and Rose Rowan; and sister-in-law Patsy Rowan. She is survived by her brothers, Pat Rowan, Donal (Bridie) Rowan, and Tom (Rose) Rowan; sisters, Rose (Chris) Palko and Alice (Ivan) Neal; son, Joel (Gail) Mackie; dear friend, Vera Smith, who was like a daughter; many nieces, nephews and Godchildren; and a wonderfully supportive caring circle of friends and neighbors.
Raised in the beautiful seaport of Killybegs, she always held tightly to her Irish heritage and retained her wonderful Irish brogue, even after becoming an American citizen. Margaret came to the US in July of 1961 and remained here for the rest of her years, but always relished the occasional trip “home.” She faced every challenge armed with her faith and determination to persevere.
